University Primary School‚Äč

The Preschool-5th grade Lab School of The College of Education at The University of Illinois

Uni Primary is a Reggio Emilia inspired school community, where children are engaged in creative, challenging, and worthy inquiries using The Project Approach.

Our Preschool Classroom is an engaging, joyful space in which to live and learn. Children feel the warmth of teachers and friends as they investigate and discover the world around them. Children's curious and competent nature are honored at Uni Primary.

In our Kindergarten/First grade classroom, children’s days are filled with kind interactions between children and teachers. Meaning-making, dialogue, choice, and social, emotional, intellectual, and academic growth are valued by nurturing teachers.

2-3 classroom

Our Second and Third Graders are eager to delve into project work through a spirit of community inquiry. Children in this class are especially keen to manifest more independence in their research, venturing out on whole class or small group field experiences here on campus.

4-5 classroom

Our Fourth and Fifth Graders are incredibly witty and busy scholars, democratic community members, and big thinkers. Their application of academic skills to real-world problems, possibilities, and projects is invigorating and challenging work!
